I found an article on social media, (there is a link at bottom of the page). About an indigenous approach to healing trauma with an aboriginal practice known as Dadirri.
Here in this first video Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann talks about it-
It really inspired me and got me thinking about what I do and how similar I hope some of my practice is to this and if the time and client/therapist bond is right, how well it can work for clients and myself as a practice.
Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann, describes it as “Inner deep listening and quiet still awareness”. She says, we all have a spring within us (a spiritual place) and how difficult it is to live in these 2 opposing worlds of the secular and sacred.
If called to she tells us, we can send a prayer to feel again that connection to the great creator and when that connection is made new, we will feel the its presence and be refreshed and renewed.
I would call it, deep soul listening, something that happens in the stillness and the majesty of now, its a very mindful practice.
“Dadirri is a practice that allows us to open up this trapped pain and trauma in a sacred and held space and with the support of those around us, we can finally feel it in order for it to be released.” quote from the article.
If you like the sound of this, take a moment now to be still and listen to your body. Just ask it, if it sounds good ? take the first answer that comes and if it’s Yes, get in touch and come and try it. Is your soul calling you? to tune in and listen? ……..
When our embodied, subjective experience is empathically held by another, our nervous systems down-regulate, our minds soften, our hearts open, and we come into a primordial sort of rest.
While our true nature as open, luminous awareness is the ultimate holding environment, as relational beings we are wired to rest within a relational matrix. To enter into this field with another, woven and constructed by the alchemical substances of presence and of space, is one of the great mysteries of the play of formlessness and form.
As we dance in the contradictions of self- and other- holding, we become a vessel through which the opposites of separation and union can unfold here. While the mind will spin to resolve the mystery, it was placed inside you by love itself, which by its nature is unresolvable, untamable, outrageous, and wild.
Never forget the transformative power of just one moment of pure kindness and what it can do in a person’s life … that person including yourself. It is wide awake, in perfect balance, and is the activity of revolution.
These two pieces are written more beautifully than I ever could, but I share them here to demonstrate an essence, a feeling state that if invited and allowed, I hope flows through my work. All of my work is about healing, in kindness & with love.
